How it works

  1. Add your domain under Custom domains and create the DNS record the dashboard shows you.
  2. As soon as the record propagates and points at DynamiHost, a certificate for the domain is requested from Let's Encrypt and installed automatically.
  3. From then on the domain serves HTTPS only, with HTTP redirected to it, and the certificate is renewed automatically before its 90 day expiry.

Certificates are free and included with every plan that supports custom domains: Growth includes 1 domain, Pro 3, and Business 10. Trial and Starter do not include custom domains.

Timing

Issuance usually completes within a few minutes of the DNS change becoming visible. A domain can show as connected before its certificate is ready; give it a short while, and check that the DNS record matches the dashboard exactly, with no extra records pointing the same name elsewhere.

If a certificate does not arrive

  • Confirm the DNS record exists with a DNS lookup tool and points where the dashboard says.
  • Remove any old records for the same name that point at a previous host, and any CAA records that forbid Let's Encrypt.
  • Wait for propagation: some providers take up to a few hours to publish changes.

Once issued, renewals need no action from you. If a renewal ever fails because the DNS record was removed, the dashboard shows the domain as disconnected and scans fall back to an error page, so keep the record in place for as long as the domain is in use.
