Three controls decide when a code works and who can use it. You will find them in the code editor.

Password protection

Set a password on a code and scanners must enter it before they are forwarded. Use it for staff-only material, event content for ticket holders, or anything that should not be open to the public internet.

  • The password is asked for once per browsing session on the scanner's phone.
  • Share the password alongside the code (on the ticket, in the email, on the poster). A protected code with an unshared password only creates support requests.

Scheduled activation

Set a start time and the code stays inactive until then, showing a holding message to anyone who scans early. Right for launch material printed in advance and for dated offers.

Expiry

Set an end time and the code stops forwarding once it passes. Expiry is the safe default for coupons, seasonal menus, job ads and anything with a deadline, because forgotten printed codes keep circulating for years.

Expiry and scheduling use your account timezone. After changing either one, scan the code yourself to see exactly what a visitor sees in each state.
